Campo Pianielli
Campo Pianelli is located at the foot of the Pietra di Bismantova, where, in 1875, some men began to make excavations, finding the remains of several tombs, vases, ceramics and other objects belonging to the Bronze Age and also the Etruscan era: it was a real necropolis..
Of course, in the nineteenth century Castelnovo ne' Monti was a difficult place to reach, so almost all the finds of Campo Pianelli were not found by archaeologists, but by the owners of fields and farmers. Over the years several excavations were made and the most recent dates back to 2012: thanks to this research the remains of a hut belonging to the Bronze Age was discovered.
Besides being a place of historical interest, Campo Pianelli is a beautiful, Natural and quiet place, from which you can admire the top of the Pietra di Bismantova. It’s never too crowded and this makes it even more beautiful. It is also easily reached along the circular path around the Pietra. It’s a very underrated area that certainly deserves more fame, given the panorama that it offers both towards the Pietra and towards the other villages of the mountain.

Campo Pianelli si trova ai piedi della Pietra di Bismantova, dove, nel 1875, alcuni uomini iniziarono a fare degli scavi, trovando i resti di diverse tombe, vasi, ceramiche e altri oggetti appartenenti all'età del bronzo e anche all'epoca etrusca: si trattava di una vera e propria necropoli.
Certo, nell'Ottocento Castelnovo ne' Monti era un luogo difficile da raggiungere, per cui quasi tutti i reperti di Campo Pianelli non venivano rinvenuti dagli archeologi, ma dai proprietari dei campi e dai contadini. Nel corso degli anni sono stati effettuati diversi scavi e il più recente risale al 2012: grazie a questa ricerca sono stati scoperti i resti di una capanna appartenente all'età del bronzo.
Oltre ad essere un luogo di interesse storico, Campo Pianelli è un luogo bellissimo, naturale e tranquillo, dal quale si può ammirare la cima della Pietra di Bismantova. Non è mai troppo affollata e questo la rende ancora più bella. E' facilmente raggiungibile anche percorrendo il sentiero circolare intorno alla Pietra. E' una zona molto sottovalutata che merita sicuramente più fama, visto il panorama che offre sia verso la Pietra che verso gli altri paesi della montagna.
