Today’s article is about “Don’t look up” a comedy produced by the well known film company Netflix. This film is having a lot of success because of its incredible plot and a unbelievable cast.
The plot is really gripping and simple to follow. In short, this film tells the story of two scientists, Kate Dibiasky and Dr. Randall Mindy, who predicted the arrival of a meteorite on Earth. Their goal is to warn the whole world about what is going to happen. At first glance this comedy could look like a dramatic movie but the story will soon present incredible and funny twists and turns.
One of the strongest aspects of this movie is the cast: the two protagonists are played by Jennifer Lawrence (Kate Dibiasky) and Leonardo di Caprio (Dr. Randall Mindy). Between the two actors there has always been great esteem but most important for the film’s success is director Adam McKay, a brilliant director already among the candidates for the Oscar as best director.
“Don’t look up” is a satire of the world’s current situation and, specifically, it’s an allegory for climate change and the way we’re dealing with this threat: the film shows that even though the problem is evident and many experts even have data to prove it, those in power avoid taking action and ordinary people prefer to live in denial because it’s more convenient.
Every character represents a typical person in our society: from a self-centered president who cares only about her own interests, to a brilliant scientist that gets carried away by fame, to a digital entrepreneur who gives too much faith in technology and, finally, to those who are really worried about the situation but are made fun of and not believed.
One of the main themes is the role of social media, that in a sense brainwash society, spread false information and focus their attention on insignificant events such as, in the case of the movie, drama amongst celebrities.
“Don’t look up” also mirrors the current situation of Covid-19. The movie harshly criticizes politicians,the media and people that in general, during the rise of the pandemic, rejected science, underestimated the imminent threat and believed false information on the internet. All these behaviors led us, as a matter of fact, to a general state of confusion and fear, such as it happens in the movie.
All in all this hilarious comedy lends itself to be seen with good friends or at home. We consider this movie interesting because it deals with important issues in a funny but realistic way.Last but not least, if you are keen on films, we are sure you won’t regret watching this movie.

L’articolo di oggi tratta di “Don’t look up”, una commedia prodotta dalla nota casa cinematografica Netflix. Questo film sta riscuotendo molto successo, questo grazie alla sua incredibile trama e ad un cast surreale.
La trama è molto avvincente ed è molto facile da seguire. In breve, questo film parla della storia di due scienziati, Kate Dibiasky e Dr. Randall Mindy, che hanno pronosticato l’arrivo di un meteorite sulla terra. Il loro obiettivo è quello di allertare il mondo intero di cosa succederà a breve. A prima vista questa commedia può sembrare un dramma ma, procedendo tra gli eventi, questa storia presenta incredibili e divertenti colpi di scena.
Come detto all’inizio, uno dei punti forti di questo film è il cast: i due protagonisti sono interpretati da Jennifer Lawrence (Kate Dibiasky) e Leonardo DiCaprio (Dr. Randall Mindy). Tra i due vi è sempre stata grande stima ma ancora più rilevante per il successo del film è il regista Adam McKay, un regista brillante già tra i candidati per il premio Oscar come miglior regista.
“Don’t look up” è chiaramente una parodia della situazione che stiamo vivendo attualmente e, nello specifico, è un’allegoria del cambiamento climatico e del modo in cui stiamo gestendo questa minaccia: il film mostra che anche se il problema è davanti ai nostri occhi e molti esperti hanno addirittura dati certi che ne affermano l’esistenza, coloro che hanno il potere si rifiutano di agire e le persone comuni preferiscono negare il tutto perché risulta più conveniente.
Ogni personaggio rappresenta infatti una tipica persona nella nostra società: da una presidentessa alla quale interessano solo i propri interessi, a un brillante scienziato che si fa accecare dalla fama, a un imprenditore digitale che dà troppa fiducia alle nuove tecnologie fino ad arrivare a coloro che davvero sono preoccupati per la situazione ma vengono derisi e presi per bugiardi.
Uno dei temi principali è il ruolo dei social media che condizionano la società, divulgano false informazioni e concentrano la loro attenzione su eventi insignificanti come per esempio, nel caso del film, i vari drammi tra celebrità.
“Don’t look up” riflette anche la situazione attuale del Covid-19. Il film critica aspramente il comportamento dei politici, dei media e di tutte le persone in generale che, nei primi mesi di pandemia, hanno rifiutato la scienza, sottovalutato l’imminente minaccia e creduto a false informazioni su internet. Tutti questi comportamenti ci hanno di fatto portato a uno stato generale di paura e confusione, proprio come succede nel film.
Tutto sommato questa esilarante commedia si presta ad essere vista con amici o in famiglia. Consideriamo questo film interessante perché parla di questioni importanti in modo divertente ma reale. Infine, se siete appassionati di film, siamo sicuri che scegliere questo film aiuti a passare una serata divertente e impegnata allo stesso tempo.
